Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus (GT-P6200[L]) is a tablet computer of a series of Android-based tablet computer produced by Samsung, introduced in October 2011.

The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus runs Android’s Honeycomb 3.2 with Samsung’s TouchWiz skin. It features a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a 1024 x 600 display, 1GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of built-in storage, a 4,000mAh battery, a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 2-megapixel front facing a camera. First of all, I was impressed by the overall capabilities of the device when it comes to providing high-quality entertainment. With a powerful dual-core processor, high-resolution image quality, and the superior Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS, it certainly seemed to be a good overall choice.

Physical Design and Connectivity

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus looks like a shrunken-down version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.These are the best-looking, best-built Android tablets on the market, slim black and gray slabs (in this case, 7.6 by 4.8 by .39 inches and 12.1 ounces) clearly made of quality materials. The Galaxy Tab 7.0 will slip unnoticeably into a coat pocket. It’s lovely.

The Tab 7.0 Plus has its Power and Volume buttons, as well as its MicroSD card slot, on the side. The 2-megapixel front camera is at the top of the bezel, to the right of the speaker, which also faces the user. The 1024-by-600 pixel TFT LCD is pretty standard for tablets of this size.

Portable Design

The GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus boasts an enviably small form factor – it’s the size of a paperback book but possesses the computing power of a laptop. The 345g lightweight and compact tablet can be operated with a single hand – ideal when you’re on the go.

The beauty of Live Panel is that real-time data updates, arranged as you like, are constantly refreshed to be accessed by you at any time.

Voice Call Receiver

The GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus calling function has been upgraded to let you make and receive voice calls privately by using Receiver Mode in public places. You no longer need a headset or Bluetooth for voice calls.

Full HD Player

Enjoy Full HD video from anywhere at any time! Multi-codec supported, the tablet can play various video formats for full compatibility. Keep your favorite movies on hand by quickly storing them on the ample microSD!

About the Technical Aspects

The 1.2 Ghz speed of the processor that the Samsung Galaxy Tab uses may not seem to be too impressive at first glance. After all, nowadays, you can’t even browse the internet properly with less than 1 Ghz of speed. Many people underestimate the power that a multi-core processor can provide, however, and the quality/speed ratio in the case of this tablet is certainly well-balanced.

The screen is brilliant and bright, and 1024 x 600-pixel resolution is more than enough for gaming and watching quality videos. Also, the touchscreen feature, which is often a problem with other tablets, has proven to be very easy to use, even for people with larger fingers (like me).

The connectivity features of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus have also proven to be quite powerful. If you run a speed test app, you will find the maximum limit to be somewhere around 15 Mbps. Also, you get fast Bluetooth connectivity that rarely presents any issues.

Best Features of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus

*Even some of the best Android tablets you will find will not offer the same type of quality when running GPS apps, like this one. Now, I travel a lot, and I was looking for this feature, so I was very pleased to see that you can even get apps that enable offline GPS support.

*Portability is also a major issue, and I can say I am not disappointed with this tablet. It is only about 10 mm thick, and it weighs less than 0.8 pounds.

*There are a lot of apps to explore here. Android and Adobe Flash are a good combination regarding speed and accessibility, and you can get many useful applications for all your needs.

*Although I don’t use them too often, the front and rear facing cameras are an interesting addition to the tablet. The quality of the 3-megapixel camera is, in fact, pretty impressive.

Drawbacks

*The memory is a bit restrictive at only 16 Gb. While you do get the option to add a micro SD card, I was expecting a bit more from Samsung.

*I experienced some issues with WIFI connectivity, but mainly because of the loss of signal. As I studied some of the reviews, however, I noticed that this problem does come up in quite a few instances.

Overall Opinion

I’d have to say that the overall quality of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is above average, and even though it isn’t the best Android tablet that money can buy, at an affordable price. It does offer quite many advantages that cannot be ignored.
