The Acer Aspire E1 572  is not a touchscreen laptop, and if this feature is important to you, it’s worth looking at another model. Plus, the laptop power supply is quite chunky and adds some considerable weight when carrying it around.

Since we first reviewed this model, we’ve updated and improved our laptop test. While Acer Aspire E1 572 laptop was originally a Best Buy, standards have since improved and though still very impressive; it no longer makes the cut.

A great all-rounder, this laptop does not bad at everything. Perfect for everyday computing, and then some, it has enough processing power and storage space to satisfy users from all walks of life.

The battery times were shorter than what we were expecting for a laptop of this size. After charging the battery to full capacity, it lasted for around four and a half hours when playing video from the hard drive and when surfing the web over wi-fi.

It doesn’t look like a cheap laptop, but looks can be deceiving. Constructed with smooth, black plastic, the exterior surface and around the keyboard area are prone to fingerprints, but it’s not that noticeable. The chassis and lid suffer from a fair bit of flex, so you may want to handle this laptop with care when transporting it. The screen hinge was quite stiff when we opened it up and required two hands for opening. However, over time this hinge may loosen up.

VGA

The 1,366×768 screen resolution is a tad low for this screen size, but it should be OK if you don’t plan on connecting it to an external display. That said; if you do wish to connect to another monitor or even a TV, this laptop can easily do connected via VGA. The Acer Aspire E1 572 has a glossy screen surface, which makes it hard to see if you’re sitting next to a window, but the screen does surround by a matte bezel which does help to cut down on some of the reflections.

The keyboard is comfortable to type on. Also, there is some decent feedback from the keys. The keys are nice and large, with good spacing between the keys, plus there’s a full numeric keypad. However, there are some minor clacky plastic sounds thanks to the surrounding areas of the keyboard. The keys aren’t back lit, so if this is a must-have, you’ll need to spend more money.

Feature:

This model also has a good range of connectivity options, including HDMI, VGA, and an SD card slot, but we are disappointed that it only includes one USB 3.0 port and two USB 2.0 ports.

Audio quality from the speaker is excellent; it is slightly tinny, but Bass levels are safe. Plus, there is no distortion at high volumes.

The Acer Aspire E1 – 572 is a great value focused laptop and even though some compromises did make with the design of this notebook, we still think it’s a worthy option.
